Dr Mehul Sarker

I joined the AIMS clinical and research spinal fellowship under Dr John Choi from 1 st March 2019 for a period of 1 year. Initially I was excited and anxious at the same time, coming from a foreign country. But my first meeting with Dr Choi took away all my anxiety and I received a warm welcome in the Spine Ortho Clinic family.

I was privileged to work under Dr John Choi. I had a fantastic time learning under the most dedicated, skilful and approachable surgeon. As the only fellow under Dr Choi, we had a substantial variety and volume of spinal cases. Dr Choi made sure I had complete exposure to his cases starting from outpatient consulting to surgical planning and proper execution and followups of each and every case be it adult deformity, minimally invasive spine surgery, complex cervical spine surgery, single position 360 degree robotic fusions surgeries or total lumbar and cervical disc replacements. The fellow under him is involved in every small step of the procedure. He makes sure the fellow understands the operating surgeons perspective as well while assisting, which in my personal experience helps one perform cases better individually in their practice.

I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to train here and experience tremendous growth as a spine surgeon with the guidance and mentorship of Dr Choi. It has definitely helped me to become a competent and confident spine surgeon. Thank you Dr Choi and his team.
